University Instructors is recruiting for immediate placement of dynamic special education classroom teachers to support our district partner in New Bedford MA. As a special education teacher, you will directly impact students in special education programs. You will also partner with classroom aides and ABA supports to provide instruction, behavior management, and primary care to students.

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for day-to-day management of the classroom and provision of instruction, including development and implementation of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals, assessment, and curriculum design. The teacher is also responsible for the supervision of classroom staff, ongoing parent contact, and collaboration with behavior support staff and community collateral contact.
•Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field preferred.
•Knowledge in the area of developmental disabilities, specifically social and emotional disabilities.
•Knowledge and experience in the area of Emotional Development and Social Skills Training preferred.
•Demonstrated ability in managing students with severe behavioral difficulties.
•Familiar with special education assessment tools.
•Knowledge of curriculum design and development, and the ability to successfully create, develop, and implement individual behavior plans.
•Demonstrated ability in maintaining and analyzing behavioral data.
•Demonstrated ability in maintaining effective communication with administration, parents, counselors, and related service providers.
•Demonstrated ability to lead classroom staff to ensure all are working towards a common vision.
•Knowledge of MA Curriculum Frameworks and MCAS alternate assessments.
•Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the provision of special education and the special education process.
•Certification in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Preventing and Managing Aggressive Behaviors (PMAB) required.
$40 hourly
