Overview

University Instructors LLC is seeking talented people from diverse backgrounds to lead, change, and inspire students in the Hampton area for SY 25-26. 

In this role you will serve students in special education or general education programs as a classroom teacher.

**Candidates that hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in ANY field are eligible to take part in our pathways program. In this program you can become eligible for a provisional teaching license for school year 2025-26 and beyond.

Responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities

Successful applicants will:

  • Provide direct instructional services in a variety of settings to students with disabilities based on their Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Assesse student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, outcomes, and disability or impairment.
  • Collaborate with other staff and parents to develop individual educational programs (IEP) for each student assigned.
  • Collaborate within a professional learning community in order to nurture and sustain a school culture and instructional program conducive to accelerated student achievement.
  • Plan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities, including determination of appropriate type and level of materials and equipment.
  • Participate in and/or chairs eligibility, IEP, and triennial meetings.
  • Develop, adapt, and modify educational materials, resources, and strategies to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Manage the behavior of learners in the instructional setting to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process and assists and participates in management of student behavior in other parts of the school, center, school grounds, or work site.
  • Coordinate educational activities, as required, with other professional staff, both school and non-school based, to maximize learning opportunities.
  • Assesse on a continuous basis student achievement through use of formal and informal testing, and maintains appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for division and individual reporting purposes.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multimedia and technology to enhance learning.
  • Coordinate instructional activities and collaborates with other professional staff.
  • Participate in staff development activities and staff meetings as required, or assigned.
  • Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of their children's progress.
  • Communicate with students on expectations and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations.
  • Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.
  • Ensure classroom and/or instructional environment is attractive, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning, and that materials are accessible to students.
  • Make off-school site visits as required to monitor students, confer with employers, or site instructors.
  • Perform related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Education and additional requirements

  • Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution recognized in the state of VA.
  • Complete or have completed a course in the foundations of special education from an approved university or institution.
  • Successfully obtain a provisional Teaching License in the subject area they are employed in from the VA Department of Education.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Compensation

Up to $35 Hourly/40 Hours a Week/ Mon-Friday
