Overview

University Instructors LLC is seeking talented people from diverse backgrounds to lead, change, and inspire students in the Manassas area for SY 25-26. 

 

In this role you will serve students in special education or general education programs as a classroom teacher.

**Candidates that hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in ANY field are eligible to take part in our pathways program. In this program you can become eligible for a provisional teaching license for school year 2025-26 and beyond.

Responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities

 Successful applicants will:

  • Help Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), curriculum, and individualized lesson plans.  
  • Prepare instructional materials that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of assigned students, considering the Virginia Standards of Learning, local requirements and physical, emotional, and academic levels of assigned students.
  • Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment in accordance with the students IEP.
  • Develop and implement a variety of effective teaching strategies and techniques, i.e., hands-on, student interaction, lecture, group work, etc., to present instructional content to the
  • Plan and develop, integrations and use of technology for classroom
  • Utilize assistive technology and specialized
  • Provide feedback to students on learning
  • Develop and implement a plan for managing classroom behaviors in accordance with the IEP using a variety of positive behavioral supports.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans using the Functional Behavior Assessment process.
  • Participate in staff, department, content learning teams and special education committee meetings as required.
  • Maintain a system of record keeping and data collection towards students IEP goals and
  • Participate in specialized staff development activities to improve job related skills and apply best practices in working with students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate, in a co-teaching situation, with general education classroom teacher to assess program effectiveness, recommend instructional strategies, ensure implementation of student’s required accommodations and/or modifications, provide curriculum coordination between general and special education, and evaluate the student’s educational progress.
  • Consult with general education teacher regarding instructional and behavioral strategies for assigned students in general education
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate
  • Inform general education teachers of accommodations and modifications required by the students’
  • Respond to parent inquiries in a timely
  • Plan and supervises assignments for teacher assistant(s).
  • Perform duties deemed necessary by the School Board and Superintendent for the efficient and successful operation of the school system.
  • Comply with all school laws, State Board of Education regulations, and all rules and regulations made by the School Board and
  • Attend all meetings called or approved by the Superintendent, Principal or Supervising
  • Learn the criteria for the evaluation of the Teacher; especially the areas of evaluation procedures, evaluation, steps and appeals.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the building.

Qualifications

Education and additional requirements

  • Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution recognized in the state of VA.
  • Complete or have completed a course in the foundations of special education from an approved university or institution.
  • Successfully obtain a provisional Teaching License in the subject area they are employed from the VA Department of Education.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Compensation

Starting Wage of $35 hourly. (Potential for increase based on experience)
