Overview

University Instructors (UI) seeks a dynamic Program Coordinator with a background in Special Education who is passionate about supporting students. In this role, you’ll support instructors working with PreK-12 students who are neurodivergent and part of Special Education programming.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will provide Program Support leveraging your background in Special Education where you will:

 

· Serve as a Special Education subject matter expert for Specialty Services and UI programs.

· Apply a holistic understanding of special education and talent acquisition processes to program management; progress monitor all elements of program implementation, including but not limited to supporting recruitment, interviewing, instructor onboarding, attendance, performance, special education policy, and student achievement.

· Mentor UI instructors using practices that align with client and instructor needs. Support UI instructors by:

· Providing constructive feedback.

·  Reinforcing state and district policies, especially as they relate to de-escalating behaviors and restraint

·  Sharing best practices when working with student support teams (e.g., teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language therapists, etc.).

·  Encouraging engagement in reflective practices so they refine their abilities over time.

·  Fostering a collaborative environment among teachers, paraprofessionals, and other members of educational teams.

·  Providing applicable solutions to behavioral or educational problems occurring during the school day.

·  Providing action-oriented solutions paired with empathy as they navigate what can be emotionally demanding work of assisting students with special needs.

· Support a caseload of K-12 schools and/or districts as an integral member of the UI team; partner effectively with UI instructors, school-level staff, and district-level staff.

· Document and immediately report any safety or compliance concerns instructors share with management.

· Confirm instructor placements identified by district partners; lead client partnerships by proactively anticipating and addressing their needs.

· Support Program Management and Recruitment to incorporate best practice recruitment and selection strategies when placing newly recommended instructors.

· Maintain open lines of communication with instructors through onboarding, orientation, training, and conversion to district employment (as applicable), confirming knowledge transfer of program details.

· Inform your supervisor about changes in schools and/or districts you support, including program observations, related to school administration and staff concerns, instructor performance and attendance, program setup, changes, and/or program effectiveness.

· Partner with Program Manager and/or supervisor to manage program budgets.

· Provide feedback to the program management team on the program implementation, student data reporting, and program success measures

· Complete Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) for instructors as needed.

· Create, plan, adapt, lead, and facilitate instructor orientation, training, and relevant professional development opportunities as necessary.

· Provide feedback and performance coaching to instructors or connect instructors with other UI supports to ensure they achieve professionalism, positive behavior interventions, compliance requirements, and student achievement; share feedback with program management and develop Instructional Coaching Plans as needed for UI instructors.

· Align UI program support with clients’ designated de-escalation trainings (e.g., Right Response, Safety Care, Mandt, CPI, etc.).

· Mentor UI instructors by providing direction, support, and encouragement in all aspects of student services. Perform observations in a K-12 setting as needed.

· Identify, plan, and execute effective training sessions to support UI instructors and UI internal staff with best practices; tailor sessions to align with clients’ state and district policies.

· Analyze student data in UI classrooms and submit recommendations to program management for improvements in the instructional setting to advance student achievement where applicable.

· Make data-informed decisions to adjust practices applying lens of UI’s goal of student success.

· Communicate and meet consistently with your supervisor to provide updates on progress, potential issues, and program concerns.

· Assist with completing, collecting, and distributing periodic (bi-weekly, monthly, mid-program, and end-of-program) reporting information for reports and surveys.

· Complete required documentation as needed.

· Attend and contribute to client meetings when appropriate.

· Maintain a positive rapport with school administration, staff, and other clients.

· Complete other duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

· Effective oral and written communication skills

· Instructional design and delivery experience in the K-12 special education setting

· In-depth knowledge of policies, compliance, pedagogies, and methodologies related to special education

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Strong computer skills (Intermediate level - Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace)

· Good time management and organizational skills, including prioritizing, scheduling, and adapting as necessary

· The ability to meet deadlines

· Strong ability to work independently, with little supervision, and collaboratively as an active participant of a team

· The ability to effectively build relationships on trust and respect

· Knowledge of high-impact instructional and behavioral practices and recognizing them in the classroo

Qualifications

As a successful applicant, you must have a passion for advocating for and helping students succeed. Additionally, you will need to:

 

· Hold a bachelor’s degree.

· Demonstrate ONE of the following:

· At least 5 years of experience working in a K-12 education setting OR

· Any similar combination of education and experience.

· Demonstrate at least 3 years of experience writing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

· Hold an active teaching license – issued by a U.S. state – with a special education endorsement, strongly preferred.

Compensation

$35 Houry/ Expected Hours between 30-40 hours a week during the school yaer
